From: Sandpoint, Idaho
To: Libby, Montana
Miles: 96
Haiku of the day:
No bears did I see,
But Joanna did see one.
She told it to shoo!
So that's how I spent 96 miles on my bike today, thinking of 17-syllable ditties.
We all agreed that this was about as perfect a day you might get for one as long as this one was. The hills were minor, the temperature was in the 70's, and we occasionally had a tailwind, too.
The mountains look like rounded, gigantic versions of the White Mountains, and we paralleled lakes and rivers, biking on route 200, route 56, and route 2. Everything is so green, whether forests of fir trees, or the grassy undergrowth, or even the teal-green waters rushing by in streams and rivers.
We went by Kootenai Falls, which has a hiking path to a swinging pedestrian bridge over the river there. But it came late in the day, and a few of us passed on it. I thought of something my father-in-law might say in such a situation: "I've seen waterfalls before." Do I sound tired? Well, maybe a little. No pictures to post tonight, but I'll try to get to those tomorrow.
Sleep well out there!
